Overview
The 2018 Dalwhinnie Moonambel Shiraz is a mature-release Pyrenees red from one of Victoria's most iconic high-altitude estates. Grown near Moonambel, this Shiraz reflects Dalwhinnie's signature combination of dark fruit, spice, structure and elegant cool-climate restraint.
Vintage & Winemaking
The fruit was fermented in small batches for 10 to 14 days in open-top fermenters. Once approaching dryness, the wine was pressed directly to French oak barriques for 20 months' maturation. Careful barrel selection was then carried out to create the final Moonambel blend.
Dalwhinnie's vineyard sits at 595 metres above sea level in the Pyrenees, with ancient soils, cool steady nights and a remote amphitheatre-like site that gives the wines their brooding depth and long-lived structure.
